Standing on-site, Rob takes you around the full footprint of this striking modern residence.
In this video, you’ll see the scale of the build up close—scaffolding wrapping the two-story façade as our crew works through the exterior envelope. Layers of rigid insulation board are being applied over the sheathing, creating a continuous thermal barrier that will keep this home comfortable and energy-efficient year-round. It’s the kind of detail that disappears behind the finished wall but makes all the difference in how the home performs.
One of the standout design choices is the use of Shou Sugi Ban—a centuries-old Japanese technique of charring wood to create a beautifully textured, naturally weather-resistant exterior finish. Paired with the home’s clean modern lines, the Shou Sugi Ban adds warmth, character, and a level of craftsmanship you simply can’t get from off-the-shelf cladding. It’s a material that ages gracefully and tells a story, and we’re thrilled to bring it to this build.
