The Role: Staff Accountant – Construction / Real Estate
This is not a generic accounting position. Our Staff Accountant plays a vital role in keeping every project financially aligned with its design, scope, and schedule.
You will support job costing, bookkeeping, vendor payments, draw schedules, payroll, and compliance across multiple projects and entities. You’ll work closely with ownership, project managers, and lenders to ensure the financial backbone of our homes is rock solid.
This position offers hybrid flexibility — three days in our North Durham office and up to two days remote — while remaining closely connected to the heartbeat of our operations.
What You’ll Do
You will be responsible for managing the financial and administrative flow of our construction projects, including:
- Accounts payable & receivable, reconciliations, and vendor payments
- Daily use of QuickBooks
- Purchase order approvals and material ordering
- Job costing by project, phase, and cost code
- Managing draw schedules, loan disbursements, and lien waivers
- Payroll and contractor payments
- Tracking retainage, budgets, and change orders
- Preparing monthly financial statements
- Supporting CPA and tax preparation
- Ensuring compliance with NC construction and real estate requirements
